Research visit in ENEA by Milica

MilosYesterday, Milica returned from the research collaboration visit in ENEA (Frascati, Italy), where she performed experiments with Violeta Lazić.

Proof of the visit.

Marijana becomes an Assistant Professor

MilosSince 1st March 2019, Marijana has new role as Assistant Professor (“docent” in Serbian) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Kragujevac. But above all, we are happy that she is going to stay the part of our team despite new obligations.

Biljana EWCPS Attendance

MilosAs you might remember from our earlier, Biljana was in Pau (France) for attending 18th European Winter Conference on Plasma Spectroscopy (EWCPS) from 3rd to 8th February 2019.

She gave a lecture entitled “Uncovering Beryllium line with forbidden component”:

New publication by Miloš

Milos We are proudly presenting published article as a proceeding of the SPIG conference by Miloš. The article is entitled “Experimental Runaway Electron Current Estimation in COMPASS Tokamak” and published by Atoms journal.

PSL media experts

Milos MilosThis autumn semester, the Institute of Physics hosted the first Media Laboratory*, a free school of scientific journalism. Two of our members, Milica and Biljana, have passed this course.

Biljana’s new publication

Milos We are proudly presenting published article by Biljana, her second article this year as the first author. However, the significant contribution of co-authors should not overseen. The article is entitled “Forbidden component of the Be II 436.1 nm line recorded from pulsed gas discharge plasma” and published by Europhysics Letters journal.

Biljana gets EWCPS Grant

MilosWe are proudly announcing that Biljana obtained the student grant for 18th European Winter Conference on Plasma Spectroscopy (EWCPS), held in Pau (France) from 3rd to 8th February 2019. She will give a lecture on her PhD-related findings, that have obviously impressed the Scientific Committee.

New co-authorship by Miloš

Milos Miloš‘s previous work during the PhD research has payed off. The article on “Runaway Electron experiments at COMPASS in support of the EUROfusion ITER physics research”   has been published in Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion. The article is product of the plenary talk at the EPS Plasma Physics Conference held in Prague.

More details about Miloš contributions at the EPS conference can be found on the following link.

Lecture by our Guest

Milos

Yesterday, the Laboratory hosted Dr. Predrag Ranitović, who held an open lecture at Institute of Physics Belgrade. The lecture title was “Attosecond Coherent Control of Atomic and Molecular XUV and X-Ray Absorption Processes by Intense Laser Radiation”.

Abstract:

Recent breakthroughs in the ultrafast lasers development have allowed for the opening of new horizons in the ultrafast experimental and theoretical AMO physics. Following these advances, table-top light sources have provided novel ways to achieve a real-time manipulation of the correlated electron/nuclear wavepacket dynamics by means of attosecond XUV and femtosecond IR radiation [1-6]. However, more than fifteen years upon the birth of attosecond physics, and after the Nobel Prize Award for femtochemistry, the concept of attosecond chemistry has not yet been fully realized. In this talk, I will introduce the basic principles of the strong laser-field ionization and generation of attosecond XUV/X-Ray radiation, and show how the attosecond VUV and XUV light sources can be used to coherently manipulate molecular dynamics by means of electron wave packet interferometry [7-9]. The use of attosecond VUV pulse-trains to coherently excite and control the outcome of a simple chemical reaction in a deuterium molecule, in a nonBorn-Oppenheimer regime, presents intriguing new possibilities for bridging the gap between the attosecond physics and attochemistry [10]. Furthermore, I will discuss very recent results that extend the use of the attosecond table-top techniques to the soft X-Ray regime in the water window [11].

SPIG 2018

All members of the laboratory participated at the 29th Summer School and International Symposium on the Physics of Ionized Gases (SPIG 2018) held in Belgrade (Serbia). Again, Prof. Кonjević held the introductory talk. Ivke was member of the Scientific Committee for the third consecutive time. Marijana, Milica and Marko each presented the poster titled “Underwater Ablation with Two Different Laser Wavelength”, “Nanoparticles on a Sample Surface as Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Enhancers” and “Current Distribution in an Experiment of Z-Pinch with Pre-Embedded Axial Magnetic Field”, respectively. While Biljana and Miloš presented the progress reports on “Beryllium spectral line studies in the presence of beryllium dust” and “Studies or Runway Electrons in COMPASS Tokamak”, respectively.

We are also proud for having invited two lecturers. First, Vincenzo Amendola, an associate professor of physical chemistry in the Department of Chemical Sciences of Padova University (Italy) gave a plenary talk on the “Laser assisted synthesis of magneto-plasmonic and UV-vis-NIR plasmonic nanoparticles”. Next, Andrei Pipa, research associate at the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (Greifswald, Germany) held the talk on the “Equivalent circuit approach for electrical diagnostics of dielectric barrier discharges”. We would like to use this opportunity to thank them for coming.
